Seasonal Outdoor Instructor Job from February 2026
We are looking for outstanding, enthusiastic, energetic and inspiring Instructors to join our team in February 2026.
We want you to have a great experience with us and develop in your role with regular training opportunities and support in gaining NGB awards.
Seasonal full time starts for 18 – 19 years olds at £19,760.
For 20 years and upwards it is £24,127 per annum pro-rata in line with National Minimum Wage.
We offer an Incentive scheme that will pay you £55 for each of the following qualifications:
BCU Paddlesport Instructor PSI
Archery GB /GNAS
Bushcraft -L1 L2
Ropes: RCI, SPA
Hillwalking: ML Summer/Lowland
NRSA
For example, if you hold two of these qualifications, you would be paid £110 each month till the end of the season.
The Retention scheme: for people who are contracted from February – November (only applicable after a completed probation period)
£78 per month to be paid with the last pay slip in November which is taxable.
You can potentially earn an extra:
£110 (2 quals) + £78 (retention) per month on top of your monthly wage.

Activity Instructor
Reports to: Head of Operations
Pay: £19,760 to £24,127 per annum pro rata (in line with National Minimum
Wage)

* Ropes qualifications – e.g. RCI (SPA), CWI, ERCA

A Retention Scheme payable at the end of your contract (Jan – Nov) - £78 per
month, this will start once your probation period has been completed.
Hours:
38 hours per week (averaged over the season)
Holiday: 28 days pro rata
Contract:
Temporary contracts with 3-month probation period.

Main purpose of the role:
To deliver safe, progressive and fun activities to a range of customers. To
assist the Senior Instructors and Head of Operations in day-to-day
maintenance of activity equipment.
Key Tasks:
Instructing
1. Deliver high quality, engaging activity sessions in accordance with the
Operational Handbook.
1. Consider the learning outcomes of each group when delivering
activity sessions and tailor reviews to those needs.
1. Instruct a wide variety of groups from young children to adults,
subject to experience and training.
1. Participate in staff training and potentially assist in or deliver training
under the guidance of the Senior Instructors/Head of Operations.
Health and Safety
1. Deliver activities in line with Mill on the Brue health and safety and
Technical Advisor guidelines.
1. Be familiar with all activity and site risk assessments and work within
them.
1. Complete activity maintenance checks and report back using the
relevant systems and liaise with the Senior Instructors and/or Head of
Operations regarding faults with the equipment/site.
1. Adhere to safeguarding best practice.
2. Ensure the completion of reports and evidence gathering of incidents,
accidents and near misses.
Miscellaneous
1. Attend morning and evening meeting.
2. Assist in the mentoring of Group Leaders if required.
3. Assist in the preparation of the site for groups and other events.

discussion with the post holder.

Person Specification
Essential
* Valid First Aid certificate (minimum 8 hours
* Recent experience in delivering adventure, learning and environmental
activities to young people.
* Proven ability to set goals and review sessions effectively.
* Ability to build positive working relationships.
* Ability to work flexible shift patterns including evenings and
occasional weekends.
* Positive attitude and willingness to increase professional knowledge
and qualifications.
Desirable
* BCU Paddlesport Instructor or UKCC/BCU Level 1
