Overview
Group IT Systems and Data Manager – Rossendale. Buckhurst Plant Hire is seeking an experienced and proactive Group IT Systems and Data Manager to lead and develop our internal IT capabilities across the group, with a focus on plant and equipment hire and service delivery for construction, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the IT infrastructure, business systems, software platforms, and data governance across the group.
* Manage third-party IT providers and software vendors; monitor SLAs to ensure delivery of IT services and uninterrupted operation of key infrastructure.
* Maintain and support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, InspHire and other productivity tools; ensure IT hardware, networking equipment, and telephony systems are up to date.
* Coordinate all system upgrades, integrations, migrations, and rollouts; develop and maintain system documentation and user guides.
* Lead data integrity and quality across multiple systems; develop standardised management reports, dashboards, and KPIs (e.g. hire utilisation, fleet performance, revenue, age).
* Implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, ensure GDPR compliance and other relevant regulations, conduct regular access and data process audits, and report risks with no impact to the group’s systems.
* Lead or support IT-related projects (new software implementations, cloud transitions, system integrations); produce project plans, budgets, issues logs and lessons learned; engage stakeholders and promote best practices in data and systems usage.
* Provide leadership and development for the IT team; manage workload, set targets, and conduct performance reviews.
Essential – Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in an IT or systems manager role, ideally within a multi-site or group organisation.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, databases (SQL or similar), and business systems; experience with third-party IT providers.
* Good understanding of data reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with third parties; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to translate business needs into IT solutions.
* Experience collaborating with finance, operations, and hire desk teams to consolidate and automate reporting; identify data enhancements and continuous improvement opportunities.
* Experience with monthly reporting to key stakeholders against SLA targets.
Desirable
* Experience in plant hire, construction, or logistics sectors.
* Familiarity with Syrinx, InspHire or similar hire/asset management tools; understanding of finance systems (e.g. Sage 50/200) and system integrations.
* Awareness of ITIL principles and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. CAF, NIST).
