Overview
Customer Service Officer (Outreach Library Service) – Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Outreach Library Service. This is a fixed term role until October 2026. The post involves driving and delivering library services to users with limited access due to disability, illness, or caring responsibilities, and providing high-quality support to the Home Library and/or Mobile Library and internal courier duties for Sandwell Libraries and Archives.
Responsibilities
* Drive and operate the service fleet; undertake multi-drop deliveries for Home Library, Mobile Library, and internal courier tasks.
* Provide a high-quality library service to individuals and groups with limited access to their local library.
Requirements
* Must hold a full and current driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
* At least 12 months of consistent and relevant driving experience.
* A recognised library or customer service qualification, OR be working towards one, OR have equivalent skills and experience.
* Self-motivated, able to prioritise workload, and work with minimal supervision.
Note: This role is subject to the successful completion of the council’s fleet driver permit assessment and references.
