About the mission we offer you:
An Undergraduate Materials engineer is required to assist with major Energy Transition, olefins, refinery and petrochemical projects located in both domestic and international markets. This role is designed for a structured sandwich year placement for a student currently undertaking an engineering degree.
Job Description:
1. Assist in the preparation and updating of engineering procedures and standards.
2. Support the preparation and checking of: Material Selection Diagrams Material Selection Reports Discipline basis of design documentation Discipline Specifications (including Painting, Insulation, Welding of pressure components)
3. Provide input for project estimates and planning activities.
4. Assist in providing technical recommendations on the material selection of equipment and piping to meet Project requirements.
5. Familiarisation with plant equipment including pumps, drums, columns, shell and tube exchangers, air coolers, compressors etc.
6. Assist in preparing material take-offs for insulation and painting on site.
7. Support senior engineers in troubleshooting operating plants by learning about failure mechanisms such as fatigue, corrosion, stress corrosion etc.
8. Be prepared to undertake occasional travel within the UK and overseas for meetings or site support, where appropriate and supervised.
Typical background and experience required:
9. Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with a formal requirement for an industrial "sandwich year" placement.
10. An eagerness to learn about the Petrochemical, Energy Sector or related industries.
11. Familiarity with European, American, and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry is a plus.
12. A proactive attitude towards professional development and working towards future Chartered Engineer Status.
Additional information:
13. Full command of the English Language, both written and spoken is required.
14. Software knowledge shall include Microsoft Office applications.
