Policy Lead Associate - Redress

Division – Cross-Cutting Policy & Strategy

Department – Redress & Reporting Policy

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £59,100 to £69,000 and London £64,900 to £76,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The team sits in the Redress & Reporting Policy Department within CCPS. Redress plays a critical role by owning and advising across the FCA on the policy requirements which ensure that firms put things right for financial services consumers when things go wrong, whether that’s making a complaint or claiming compensation in the event a firm goes under owing redress liabilities. As part of this role the team owns the FCA’s relationship with the FOS and FSCS. It is also responsible for Claims Management Company sector policy.

Our key pieces of work at the moment include: delivering on the commitment to modernise the redress framework following the call for input announced by the Chancellor last November, the preparations of a possible consumer redress scheme and related interventions to manage a possible large scale redress event arising from motor finance, and the delivery of a comprehensive revamped complaints reporting system to improve the quality of data we receive from firms.

What will you be doing?

1. Support the Manager in overseeing team activities, allocating tasks, tracking deliverables, and motivating colleagues to achieve high-quality performance

2. Line manage 2-3 associates, providing coaching and mentorship to junior colleagues while actively supporting the team’s development and performance

3. Influencing team and department strategy while leading relationships with key external and internal stakeholders

4. Proactively sharing knowledge across the team and serving as an escalation point for complex issues

5. Lead policy proposal development, high-quality policy papers, and external communication for public consultation

6. Oversee the provision of quality policy advice to supervisors, firms, consumers, and industry bodies

Which skills are required?

Minimum

12. Prior significant regulatory experience in finance services and/or other sectors

13. Proven experience to manage and deliver complex projects or initiatives, managing multiple stakeholders and navigating challenging environments to achieve successful outcomes

14. Prior experience demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to support the team to distil complex issues into succinct messages & present confidently to a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Essential

15. Proven experience of dealing with complex policy issues relevant to consumer protection in regulated industries

16. Evidence of analysing large amounts of complex information, identifying the key themes, drawing logical conclusions and developing and implementing strategies

17. Strong management capability project management) to help plan, prioritise and allocate work within the team

18. Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and escalate issues appropriately

19. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to build and maintain relationships with senior management, other regulators and staff at all levels

20. A curious and inquisitive mindset, and an ambition to deliver in the public interest
