An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Electoral Services Team at Fareham Borough Council. You will carry out administration tasks associated with electoral registration and local and national elections. Your main duties will include responding to customer enquiries by telephone, email, post and in person; supporting the team with the day-to-day administration of the service including processing electoral registration applications and postal and proxy vote applications; and assisting in administrative tasks in preparation for election events. Please note this role is primarily office based at the Civic Offices. Interviews are planned to take place on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th May 2025. About You The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electoral law and Electoral Commission guidance, a customer-focused approach with tact and diplomacy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong ICT and communication skills are essential, along with accuracy, a methodical work style, and the ability to perform well under pressure. A commitment to delivering high-quality work, a willingness to attend training, and flexibility with working hours, especially during election and canvassing periods, are also required. About Us We aim to attract, develop and retain the very best people to carry out the work required. In return, you would be joining a well-managed Council. We offer a great pension scheme, authorised parking, flexible working, tech schemes and a car lease scheme to name a few of the benefits of working for us. We take pride in receiving feedback from others who say we are a friendly and professional organisation. Fareham Borough Council is committed to being a disability inclusive employer and in order to support this commitment we are proud to be part of the Government's Disability Confident scheme demonstrating that we will provide a fair and equal route to employment with the Council. Being part of the scheme means we proactively seek to address inequality for those with disabilities by challenging attitudes towards disability, increasing understanding of disability and removing barriers to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
