About the Role: We’re looking for an Transport Planner Degree Apprentice to join our London office. You’ll work alongside our experienced Sustainable Transport team, supporting the development and delivery of projects while completing a Transport Planner Degree Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) through Northeastern University London.You’ll help us research, plan, design, and deliver solutions to today’s transport challenges, from improving active travel options to reducing congestion and emissions. This role combines practical on-the-job training with dedicated university learning (typically one day per week online, plus occasional in-person weeks). Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preparing transport assessments, statements, and travel plans for clients Support the design and delivery of transport, active travel, and regeneration projects Research policies, analyse data, and draft reports and presentations. Monitor active travel and traffic projects and assess their impact. Help with junction and network assessments, preliminary highway designs, and parking scheme designs. Liaise with clients, attend meetings, and collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary projects. Contribute to meaningful community and stakeholder engagement work. Training & Development:
You will be enrolled on the Transport Planner Degree Apprenticeship (BSc) at Northeastern University London, delivered over 36–39 months with day-release study. You’ll receive structured on-the-job training, including GIS, AutoCAD, report writing, and attending professional events. You’ll also have opportunities to shadow senior consultants and gain exposure to diverse aspects of the transport planning profession. Candidate Specification
Eligibility:
You must have been a UK/EU/ESS resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the programme Skills & Qualifications:
A-levels or equivalent (Maths, Geography, or similar preferred). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good numeracy and analytical ability. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Interest in urban planning, transport, and sustainability. Personal Attributes:
Organised and able to manage your time effectively. Team player with good interpersonal skills. Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn. Confident to share ideas and contribute to projects. Future Prospects: On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to continue as a Consultant within Citisense — with further development opportunities to progress into roles such as Senior Transport Planner, Project Manager, or Policy Advisor.
