We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people requiring additional support.
You will be required to:
1. Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in areas of learning and personal development.
2. Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
3. Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication, offering high levels of personal care to enable full potential, including toileting, administering medication per training procedures, and encouraging independence.
4. Carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy programs.
5. Support pupil/child mobility (as per moving and handling training) on an emergency or short-term basis, and for low-level needs like toileting or minor injuries such as a broken leg.

The Person

* Good interpersonal skills and abilities to work as part of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
* Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Ability to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before appointment, and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
* Ability to register with SSSC within 6 months of employment (for Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools) and complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
* For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools: NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve this during the first registration period.
