More information is available on our Career site at www.fife.gov.uk/jobs/supportingstatement Job Details A Youth Worker is required to support the development of issue-based youth work for secondary school pupils who live in Burntisland. This will include work in the late afternoon and early evening in various locations within Burntisland. Fife Council Community Learning and Development Team are looking for a Youth Worker to work with secondary school aged young people, along with a Senior Worker and the Community Education Worker in the Burntisland area. Working as part of a small team of you would be expected to plan, organise and evaluate general activities which would be determined by the young people but would likely include activities where the young people can be registered and gain awards in the relevant areas such as Youth Achievement Awards, Natural Connections etc. The involvement of the young people will not be within a traditional drop in youth club but will involve working with small groups on issue-based matters which would include building confidence and resilience whilst addressing the issues which face young people in the community. If you can… Engage with young people by actively listening and encouraging questions, checking for understanding and challenging any unrealistic views to those based on unfounded information in a positive way Promote a positive health and wellbeing message which includes participation in physical activities and an awareness of mental and sexual health issues Deliver health-based discussion groups and activities as well as completion of health-based project work and peer education programmes Develop open, honest and trusting relationships to provide opportunities for growth and development in a supportive environment by providing planned and spontaneous informal learning opportunities and peer interaction such as thematic discussions, project work and team challenges Encourage young people to participate in group discussions and group activities that promote acceptance and understanding of others and equality of opportunities for all Consult with young people to ensure that their views, opinions and ideas are included in local community planning arrangements by using questionnaires, discussions groups, online activities and the Fife Young People’s Panel Then you are the person we are looking for!
