About the Role
Building Services Officer (BSO) at Hugh Baird College. Full-time, permanent, 35 hours per week. Salary £22,282.03 + shift allowance. 40 days holiday + 8 bank holidays. Local Government Pension Scheme. Access to Medicash and other staff benefits.
As a BSO, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment across campus facilities. You will undertake maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality tasks, including janitorial duties, statutory compliance, security, and performance reporting. The role involves working across several campuses with responsibilities including maintenance, security, and coordinating with contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key holder and manage building access
* Perform routine inspections and security checks
* Operate and monitor fire and intruder alarm systems
* Conduct compliance testing (e.g. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers)
* Support reception areas and manage deliveries
* Carry out basic maintenance and janitorial tasks
* Assist with audits and inter-site deliveries
* Work alongside contractors on major projects
What We’re Looking For
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
* SIA training/qualification/licence
* Health & Safety awareness
* NVQ Level 2 in a maintenance-related trade
* Experience in facilities management, ideally in an educational setting
* Familiarity with CCTV systems and incident management
