Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Secretary to join our admin team for 19 hours per week to provide support to the doctors and health professionals and Management Team. The post holder will need to be competent in typing and audio typing and will require excellent communication skills.
The candidate would ideally be qualified or have some knowledge of being a medical secretary in a GP Surgery, but the practice would provide training to the right candidate.
Responsibilities
* Provide an efficient audio, copy typing, and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals, including typing letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandum, and other documents accurately and efficiently.
* Update SOPs as necessary.
* Liaise with secondary and primary care colleagues regarding waiting times and correspondence.
* Prepare invoices for private work.
* Send death certificates / cremation paperwork to the coroner’s office / undertakers.
* Handle insurance, PIP, and Universal Credit forms.
* Make appointments and bookings as required.
* Monitor practice emails.
* Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
* Assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
* Provide flexible cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
Essential Experience
* Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of relevant programs, such as Word and Excel.
Desirable Experience
* Experience of working within a GP practice.
* Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system.
* Knowledge of Lexacom.
* High knowledge of medical terminology to accurately type out letters, medical reports, and other documents.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
* IT Literate.
* Previous experience in a medical environment.
* RSA stage 2 typing plus audio typing and text processing or equivalent qualification.
