Job Description: Group Leader – $10.00 per hour. This position is a short‑term position under Education Code 45103 pursuant to Board Resolution 04-05-21 and is not part of the classified service.
Definition: To provide homework assistance and tutoring, provide challenging and engaging enrichment activities that are curriculum based, and guide students in recreation activities. Group Leaders will work directly with a group of 20 students.
Essential Functions
* Foster supportive relationships between adults and students.
* Provide activities that strengthen literacy and math skills.
* Guide students in learning social skills and character development.
* Work with a team to create a fun learning atmosphere.
* Promote youth voice and development.
* Follow the Gateway Unified School District and school site plans for activities and curriculum as scheduled.
* Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and implementing enrichment and recreation activities.
* Record, through activity description sheets, all scheduled activities.
* Review schedules and evaluate effectiveness of events and activities with the Site Coordinator.
* Supervise and instruct students in safe, responsible and respectful behavior.
* Support and utilize site procedures for discipline techniques and classroom management.
* Inspect the site and equipment used by students to ensure safety, and take corrective action to prevent injuries.
* Assist with keeping facilities clean and equipment maintained.
* Provide positive interactions with after school staff, students, parents/guardians and school staff.
* Provide weekly plans outlining all activities.
* Participate in weekly site staff meetings, monthly district staff meetings, and on‑going training opportunities.
* Provide occasional computer lab and library assistance to students.
* Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualification
* Must possess the Instructional Aide Proficiency Certificate.
Ability To
* Work with school‑aged students in grades K-8.
* Communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
