PMO Lead
Location: Glasgow/Edinburgh? Aberdeen - 1 Day a week in the office
Salary: Up to £75,000
Supporting our Legal client grow, as they invest in stronger project governance and strategic change delivery. To support this, they are establishing a central Project Management Office (PMO) and are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead this capability.
This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a PMO from the ground up while leading some of the firm’s most important transformation initiatives.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure that projects are prioritised effectively, resourced appropriately, and delivered in a structured and measurable way.
The Role:
As Programme Manager, you will oversee the firm’s portfolio of strategic initiatives while establishing a framework that ensures projects deliver real business value.
You will:
* Establish and lead the firm’s Project Management Office (PMO) capability
* Develop and maintain a multi-year change and transformation roadmap
* Prioritise projects and initiatives alongside senior stakeholders and PMO governance groups
* Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring visibility, reporting, and alignment with firm strategy
* Implement scalable project lifecycle frameworks and governance processes
* Step in as Project Manager for complex or high-impact initiatives when required
* Ensure projects are properly resourced, risks are understood, and delivery success factors are in place before they begin
* Monitor delivery progress, helping projects recover when challenges arise or recommending closure where appropriate
* Work closely with Finance, IT, and operational teams to ensure investment decisions are well informed
PMO Leadership
In addition to project delivery, you will play a key role in establishing and running the firm’s PMO function.
Responsibilities include:
* Creating project standards, templates, governance models, and reporting frameworks
* Building and maintaining a central repository of project documentation and portfolio data
* Supporting risk management and compliance across all projects
* Collaborating with Information Security and other governance functions to ensure projects align with firm policies
* Managing external project resources and supporting the growth of the PMO team over time
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience delivering major change or transformation programmes
* Experience establishing or operating a PMO or project governance framework
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and partners
* Ability to move between strategic planning and operational delivery
* Professional project or programme management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, PMI, Agile)
Desirable:
* Experience within legal, professional services, or partnership-led organisations
* Background in technology, digital transformation, or operational change programmes
