Lothian Substance Use Service (Based in Edinburgh)
About the Role
The post holder will play a leadership role within the Lothian Substance Misuse Psychology Team, leading the delivery of psychological therapies in Edinburgh substance misuse counselling services. Responsibilities include developing a plan for therapy delivery, implementing this plan through staff training, supervision, consultancy work and direct clinical practice. The role also involves line management, supervision of psychologists, and oversight of service delivery in designated areas such as Edinburgh Recovery Hubs. The position offers significant scope for service development, evaluation and research.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a plan for the delivery of psychological therapies within substance misuse services.
* Provide staff training, supervision and consultancy to support the implementation of the plan.
* Deliver direct clinical work, including psychological therapy for clients.
* Line manage and supervise psychologists within the team.
* Oversee psychology service delivery across designated substance use service areas.
* Engage in service evaluation, research and development activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Senior Principal Applied Psychologist (Band 8b)
* Membership or record in the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for the relevant regulatory group.
* Capability to work in the United Kingdom and hold required permission.
