About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Major Projects business, supporting delivery on a non‑fissile Rolls‑Royce defence project based at our Raynesway site. This is a strong opportunity to develop your commercial career within a secure, long‑term defence environment, working on technically complex, large‑scale build projects.
What you'll be doing
* Support the commercial management of projects, including cost control and forecasting
* Measure, record and value works in line with standard procedures
* Assist with subcontractor procurement, administration and performance management
* Collate and manage cost and value data, ensuring accuracy and consistency
* Prepare and review tender and contract documentation
* Assist with activity schedules and resource planning
* Monitor subcontractor performance and respond to commercial matters appropriately
* Contribute to delay and disruption analysis where required
* Ensure compliance with company governance, processes and digital systems
* Support continuous improvement through LEAN and digital practices
Who we're looking for
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying
* Experience working on build/construction projects
* Familiarity with commercial systems and administration tools
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* A proactive approach to development, ideally working towards RICS, ICES or CIOB accreditation
