IT Network Engineer
Exeter | Hybrid | Permanent | Up to £45,000 per annum + Benefits
Our client are seeking an experienced IT Network Security Engineer to design, secure, and maintain resilient network and cyber security services across a modern, multi-site environment. This role is key to protecting critical systems and ensuring secure, reliable IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, manage, and secure LAN/WAN/VPN, Firewall, WiFi, and network communications.
* Monitor and improve network security posture, performance, and threat landscape.
* Administer Firewalls, Routers, Switches, DMZs, Servers, and IP Addressing (DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
* Manage SSL certificates and external web security.
* Support GDPR and NIS2 compliance and assist with security incident response.
* Deliver penetration testing, implement improvements, and support business continuity planning.
* Collaborate with SOC and IT teams to resolve vulnerabilities and critical threats.
* Maintain network documentation, asset records, and provide service updates.
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years' experience in an IT security or network security role.
* Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN/VLANs, VPNs, TCP/IP, and enterprise WiFi.
* Hands-on Firewall experience (Fortigate preferred).
* Experience in Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, and Linux environments.
* Knowledge of cyber security standards and best practices (eg ISO 27001).
* Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Desirable
* CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification.
* Experience with Dell networking, VMware/ESXi, GNS3, and Microsoft 365.
* Knowledge of MDM, CrowdStrike, and Cortex XDR.
