Location: Fife wide- mainly based in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy areas
Salary/Banding: Band 7 (1 Permanent Post, 1 Fixed term post for 12 months)
Hours: 37 hours per week (These posts will also support on call, evening, weekend and public holiday service provision as part of the wider pharmacy team). Please note hours will reduce in line with latest NHS Pay Deal.

Due to recent staff movement we now have two vacancies in our specialist pharmacist rotational programme. This post would be ideal for someone looking to take that next step in their career and gain experience within a hospital setting. There will also be the opportunity for outpatient experience as the programme is continually evolving to meet service demands. Each part of the rotation would be 9 months and will initially include the following areas:
Specialist pharmacist rotation (Surgical / Planned Care)
1. General Surgery
2. Cancer Services
3. Orthopaedic Surgery
4. Rheumatology
This programme is based in Kirkcaldy, at the Victoria Hospital / Whytemans Brae Hospital and will provide the opportunity for individuals to work with patients and multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
You will be working as a team of specialist pharmacists, supported by pharmacy technicians, foundation pharmacists and senior clinical pharmacists, under the leadership of our Lead Clinical Pharmacists. You will be supported to complete a relevant post graduate framework and train as an independent prescriber within an agreed timescale.
Applications are welcomed from pharmacists who are passionate about patient care, service development and are keen to develop their clinical experience across a range of settings. Previous hospital experience is not essential as training and support will be given.
NHS Fife Pharmacy service serves a population of approximately 380,000 people, and is provided by an integrated team of around 200 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.
