About the role
We’re looking for 2 motivated and proactive Technical Coordinators to join our Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations team. This is an exciting chance to play a key role across the Banbury STW / Witney STW area, working predominantly in the field and closely with a supportive and experienced operations team. The position is temporary, up to 6 months.
Responsibilities
* Work side‑by‑side with local Performance Managers and a diverse team of technicians—including mechanical, electrical and ICA specialists.
* Take ownership of delivering planned and reactive maintenance, coordinating both internal field teams and external contractors.
* Deliver strong plant availability, meet operational KPIs and maintain budget compliance.
* Manage the prerequisites within SAP (materials, permits, resources and services) for all complex jobs across maintenance and operations.
* Use technical expertise and data from the field to design operationally critical jobs.
* Highlight key operational risks and present them to secure funding.
* Maintain plant and equipment availability and optimise treatment process performance.
* Develop strong collaborative relationships with other internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide expert advice on technical issues and generate solutions to operational risks.
* Obtain quotes, order materials and 3rd‑party services through our framework contractors.
* Ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are managed correctly, including safe system of work approval, reviewing RAMS, permitting and site audits.
* Ensure that legal statutory maintenance requirements are met, including items such as lifting equipment, pressure vessels and generators.
Qualifications
* Completed a time‑served apprenticeship or hold a recognised technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Proven, relevant experience as a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician or ICA Technician, with a strong understanding of plant, equipment, and operational processes (preferably within Water or Wastewater Treatment or comparable industrial environment).
* Highly logical, able to decide on and build dependencies between tasks.
* Collaborative, able to work closely with planners, field performance managers, suppliers and 3rd parties.
* Technically experienced with a good understanding of asset maintenance.
* Good local knowledge of asset importance to a site and inter‑asset relationships.
* Meticulous at documenting details of work.
* Able to manage a large workload of numerous jobs in parallel.
* Competent with IT systems, especially SAP, and effective communication skills.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues; IOSH or equivalent qualification preferred.
* Full UK driving license (essential for site travel).

The role will be through Pertemps on assignment at Thames Water.
