Address: Endeavour House, Ipswich IP1 2BX (Hybrid working available)

Hours: 37 hours per week flexible working options available
Contract: Permanent
At Suffolk County Council, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a creative and driven Performance & Data Analyst to help us turn data into meaningful insight that supports our frontline services. If you’re passionate about making information clear, accessible and useful; and want your work to genuinely influence decisions, we’d love to hear from you.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Performance & Data Analyst in our Performance and Improvement Team, you’ll help transform complex operational data into insight that supports Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service to perform at its best.
This is a hands‑on analytical role where you’ll balance data analysis with the design of intuitive, self‑service dashboards. You’ll help colleagues across the service understand performance, monitor progress, and make confident, evidence‑based decisions.
On a typical day, you might:
* Analyse performance and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
* Build and develop clear, user‑friendly dashboards in Power BI that colleagues can use independently.
* Support the adoption of self‑service reporting and help improve data literacy across teams.
* Work closely with the Performance and Improvement Manager to compile reports and monitor action plans.
* Carry out data validation and quality checks to ensure reporting is accurate and reliable.
* Use Microsoft tools such as Excel, Lists, Forms and SharePoint to streamline data collection and improve processes.
* Contribute to continuous improvement work by turning insight into practical recommendations.
* Provide analytical and quality assurance support, helping build resilience across key reporting activities.
Your work will directly support internal performance management, statutory reporting and service improvement. The insight you provide will help shape decisions that impact communities across Suffolk.
You will need
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data but also understands that insight only matters if people can use it.
We hope you’ll bring
* Experience in a data analysis, performance or improvement‑focused role.
* Strong skills in Power BI, Excel and SQL.
* Experience creating dashboards that are clear, intuitive and accessible.
* Confidence explaining complex information in a simple, engaging way.
* A methodical approach to data quality, accuracy and governance.
* The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
* A proactive mindset: someone who spots opportunities to improve processes rather than waiting to be asked.
* A Level 5 qualification in a relevant area (or equivalent knowledge and experience) is desirable.
