Offer description

This isn’t just classroom support—it’s life support.

Some children come to school carrying more than just a backpack. You could be the person who helps them feel seen, safe, and ready to learn.

We’re searching for brilliant Learning Support Assistants to work 1:1 with primary-aged pupils who need extra help managing their emotions and behaviour. These roles are ideal for someone who’s calm, consistent, and ready to build trust, even on the trickier days.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Supporting children with SEMH needs to settle into routines and build confidence

2. Assisting with learning, emotional regulation, and social interaction

3. Using positive strategies to support behaviour and encourage participation

4. Working closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to meet individual needs

The right person will:

5. Have experience in education, care, youth support or similar settings

6. Be emotionally resilient, empathetic, and proactive

7. Understand the importance of structure, patience, and trust

8. Be available full-time (Monday to Friday)

What we offer in return:

9. Weekly pay via PAYE—no umbrella companies

10. Free Thrive training and full access to our CPD Academy

11. A personal consultant who really gets to know you

12. A chance to work in settings that value and support what you bring

13. Opportunities for career development in SEND and SEMH education

We know these roles aren’t easy—but they matter. And with the right support (that’s us!), they’re incredibly rewarding.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
