A Senior Quantity Surveyor is currently required to join the Commercial team of a Civil Engineering Main Contractor based in Devon.
The company operates as a Tier 1 Contractor across sectors including Highways, Rail, Construction, and Building, with regional offices in Plymouth, Exeter, and Bristol.
Typical projects involve roads & sewers, foundations, infrastructure, major housing developments, and Highways.
The primary responsibility is to join the Major Projects team and lead/support the Commercial function for a £2bn, 10-year infrastructure programme supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine maintenance on an NEC4 contract.
Key Duties:
1. Provide commercial input, including financial and contractual performance reports to Directors.
2. Help exceed business targets and KPIs.
3. Prepare monthly cost/value reports and review results.
4. Produce and review commercial reports.
5. Physically measure works and agree measurements with clients and subcontractors.
6. Manage certification and payment of subcontractor accounts, monitoring against forecasts.
7. Maximize cash flow by ensuring timely payments.
Key Requirements:
* QS-related Degree or equivalent.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Experience supporting design, consulting, and highways contracts, particularly under NEC 3/4.
* Successful main contract management experience.
* Experience in supply chain procurement, management, and accounting.
* Experience in dispute resolution and avoidance.
* Experience in financial budgeting and reporting.
* Promotes an inclusive working environment.
* UK Driving Licence is essential.
