In this role, the successful Senior Design Engineer or similar will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of technical drawings - specifically for Highways/Transport. In addition, you will be responsible for any calculations necessary to ensure drawings adhere to both specification as well as national highway standards. On top of this, you will ensure assigned tasks are completed within budget and delivered on time to meet project deadlines, ensuring they are in line with health and safety standards, collaborating with Senior Management Teams to assist with projects from other disciplines/teams. You will also be responsible for checking/authorising junior team member's designs, providing effective feedback where possible. To further this, you will also be responsible for the mentoring and management of junior team members. Finally, you will be responsible for keeping technical documentation, ensuring its accuracy, as well as client and customer liaison, attending site visits as and when required.
The ideal Senior Design engineer or similar will have a background within the Highway Design/Transport Planning/Civils/Drainage or a related field. You will also have a knowledge/understanding of Section 278 and Section 38 Highway Design codes. In addition, you will also have a proficiency in AutoCAD design software as well as an understanding of general office software (Microsoft etc). On top of this, you will have strong numerical and analytical skills. Ideally, you will have prior experience in project management and delivery. Also, you will be happy to work both as part of a team as well as autonomously. You will also have prior experience as a leading/mentoring figure to a team of junior staff. Finally, you will hold a full, valid UK driver's license.
