Offer description

Please note this role requires 2-3+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE) with strong experience in commercial contracts (in-house or private practice)

About Euromonitor: Euromonitor International leads the world in data analytics and research into markets, industries, economies and consumers.

Purpose of the role

We're looking for a proactive and commercially astute Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in a permanent capacity. This role will initially focus on providing maternity cover for our Senior Contracts Manager, with a strong emphasis on customer and supplier negotiations and commercial contracting.

Following the initial 12-month period, the role will evolve into a broader legal advisory position, still supporting client and procurement deals, with potential to expand into employment law, corporate matters, regulatory compliance, and general legal support across the business.

Key Accountabilities

* Lead legal support on global commercial deals: Draft, review, negotiate, and provide end-to-end support on customer contracts, working closely with Sales and other commercial stakeholders.
* Attend and lead client and supplier negotiations: Join client calls as needed and lead contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers.
* Support procurement: Advise on contract risk assessments and work with Procurement to negotiate supplier contracts, supplier contract negotiations and procurement-related risk assessments.
* Maintain and improve our global contract templates for our Passport (product) and Consulting offerings, and integration of these into the commercial ecosystem, e.g. Salesforce and DocuSign.
* Risk management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, financial, and operational risks in contracts.
* Provide pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice to commercial teams.
* Collaborate with the General Counsel for support on complex drafting, negotiation and forming judgement of contractual risks.
* Develop and deliver training for global sales teams; contribute to legal resources, toolkits, and playbooks.
* Supervise and develop our Legal Contracts Analyst based in Chicago.
* Proactively identify and drive opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency in contract management, legal matter intake and legal operations.

Phase 2: Legal Counsel Development (Post-Maternity Cover)

* Continue supporting customer and supplier negotiations and contracts to lead and support customer and supplier contract work.
* Broaden scope to include (depending on business needs and capacity): Support HR with employment contracts, policies, and employee relations issues.
* Corporate: Assist with governance, company secretarial, and M&A activities as required.
* Regulatory compliance: Support on data protection, industry-specific regulations, and internal compliance initiatives.
* General legal advisory: Provide legal input on ad hoc business matters as needed.
* Build strong relationships across the business, building credibility as and act as a trusted legal go-to advisor.

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

* Qualified solicitor or legal executive (UK or equivalent jurisdiction).
* 2-3+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE) with strong experience in commercial contracts (in-house or private practice).
* Can manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, drafting and negotiation skills.
* Strong commercial acumen; ability to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly.
* Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of the business.
* Eager to broaden legal skillset and grow within a dynamic in-house environment.
* Strong team player and can-do approach; no job is too big or too small.
* Experience in IP, corporate or regulatory law is advantageous but not essential.
