Coventry
Coventry City Council
Support officer
Posted: 9 October
Offer description

Coventry City Council's Adult Services have a simple vision and strategy: "Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people." We deliver this strategy through delivering a wide range of vital services, such as:

* Working with adults of all ages with care and support needs and their carers
* Enhancing people's ability to live safely and independently in their home
* Enabling people to live independent and fulfilled lives by providing direct support
* Conducting Financial Assessments
* Improving performance of the wider service

The Business Systems Teams support both Adult and Children's Services, working with internal colleagues, external partners, and external organisations. We handle user queries, application incidents and improve the performance of our wider service through system developments and process improvements.

What is the job role? An opportunity has arisen in the Business Systems (Adults) Team. This is a fast-paced work environment that incorporates a wide variety of skills. This is an exciting time to join us as we move towards implementing a new system to enable our colleagues to meet their statutory responsibilities and deliver outstanding service to the public.

Working closely with colleagues across Adult Services, ICT and Performance Teams, you'll have the opportunity to develop skills in systems and project management, using data analysis to inform developments. You'll provide expert support to the users of our main business systems, to ensure good quality and timely record-keeping and effective use of corporate financial and physical resources.

You will contribute toward the development of systems, users and processes to ensure the systems are up-to-date, relevant and supportive of the work and priorities of the service, its staff and customers. You will also need to be able to explain technical and process-related information to non-technical staff and relate these to core business processes. You will also provide training on the business systems to staff who are new to the respective services.

This role will be of pivotal importance in the training of Adult Social Care staff on the new system and developing our wider support offer. All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Are you passionate about delivering the best services for adults in Coventry and working in partnership with internal and external partners in the spirit of the One Coventry Values and Plan? Are you confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders to explain complex information and gain an understanding of their needs? Are you interested in and confident with technology, even if you are not from a highly technical background?

In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values are:

* Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
* Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
* Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
* Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
* Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
* Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.

We are cutting-edge, challenging, youthful, vibrant and diverse. At Coventry we are committed to excellence in everything we do. With around 5100 staff from a range of different backgrounds, our aim is to recruit and develop talented people who will focus on our customers, take responsibility, work together and find better ways of doing things.

To deliver the best services to our residents, we need the best people working for us to make a difference to our communities. If you join us, we will provide a fantastic rewards and benefits package.
