A market-leading facilities management and engineering services provider is seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to lead growth across complex integrated FM and technical M&E opportunities.
This is a pivotal, high-impact leadership position responsible for shaping and executing the company’s business development strategy — from market engagement and opportunity creation to contract negotiation and mobilisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth Leadership
 * Define and deliver the business development strategy for technical and integrated FM services.
 * Identify, qualify, and secure high-value opportunities in target markets.
 * Partner with senior leadership to achieve annual growth, conversion, and profitability targets.
 * Develop go-to-market plans that strengthen market positioning and brand presence.
Solution & Proposition Development
 * Oversee the creation of compelling, client-focused FM and M&E solutions aligned to customer needs and business objectives.
 * Lead cross-functional teams in developing technical, operational, and commercial proposals.
 * Ensure solutions are competitive, deliverable, and operationally robust.
Client & Market Engagement
 * Act as the senior relationship lead for strategic clients and prospects.
 * Conduct executive-level engagement — including presentations, workshops, and negotiations — to build trusted partnerships.
 * Maintain strong visibility in the FM and engineering market, representing the organisation at industry forums and events.
Commercial & Financial
 * Develop and approve commercial models, pricing structures, and bid strategies.
 * Lead contract negotiations in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
 * Ensure financial viability and long-term value creation for both client and business.
Market Insight & Business Intelligence
 * Track industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to inform growth strategy.
 * Use data-driven insights to refine propositions and identify new service opportunities.
 * Drive continuous improvement in business development and bid processes.
Governance & Process Excellence
 * Oversee pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM reporting with accuracy and discipline.
 * Lead structured opportunity reviews, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk appetite.
 * Champion best practice sharing across sales, operations, and commercial teams.
Performance Indicators
 * Achievement of annual revenue and profitability growth targets.

Candidate Profile
 * Experience in business development, sales, or strategic account leadership within M&E or integrated facilities management.
 * Proven success leading the pursuit and closure of complex, multi-service FM contracts exceeding £1M annual value.
 * Strong commercial acumen and solution-orientated mindset.
 * Confident operating at board level, influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally.
 * Skilled in leading cross-functional teams through bids, RFPs, and solution design.
 * Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.
