About Porter Bathroom

Porter Bathroom is a luxury British manufacturing company specialising in bespoke joinery, brassware and marble for bathrooms and interiors. We work with high‑end clients and trade partners to deliver exceptional craftsmanship on complex, project‑based contracts. As we enter an ambitious growth phase, we are looking for a commercially sharp Management Accountant to sit at the heart of the business and help us scale with confidence and control.

The Role

This is not a traditional bookkeeping position. This role is about bringing true financial clarity, discipline and strategic thinking to a growing manufacturing business — someone who can look at our numbers and tell us exactly where we stand.

You will work closely with the directors to build the financial foundations needed to grow the business sustainably, profitably and at pace.

Key Responsibilities

* Project Profitability & Reporting - Produce weekly profit and loss accounts broken down by individual project - Track costs in real time against project budgets — materials, labour, subcontractors and overheads - Flag variances early and work with project leads to understand and resolve them - Develop clear, director‑friendly reporting dashboards that give instant visibility on where the business is making and losing money
* Cash Flow Management - Own the cash flow forecast on a rolling 13‑week basis - Monitor debtor and creditor positions daily, managing risk proactively - Work alongside Mary to ensure payments in and out are timed to protect liquidity - Identify cash pressure points in advance and present solutions to the directors
* Accounts Payable Control - Implement and maintain a structured purchase order and approval process - Oversee supplier payment runs in coordination with the bookkeeper, ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Maintain a clear aged creditor position and ensure no supplier relationships are put at risk through poor payment management
* Cost Saving & Supplier Negotiation - Conduct regular reviews of material, subcontractor and overhead costs across the business - Lead negotiations with key suppliers — particularly in timber, brassware, stone and marble — to secure better pricing, payment terms and supply reliability - Identify inefficiencies in manufacturing and operational spend and drive measurable cost reduction initiatives - Build a preferred supplier framework that brings consistency and savings over time
* Supporting Business Growth & Scalability - Work alongside the directors to build a financial model that supports confident decision‑making as the business grows - Ensure the financial structure, processes and reporting are robust enough to scale with increasing turnover and project volume - Provide the insight needed to assess new opportunities, investments and hires from a financial standpoint - Build a business that is financially well‑organised, margin‑focused and set up for long‑term success

You will work closely and collaboratively within the team (who handles VAT returns, PAYE and the day‑to‑day recording of payments in and out).

Your role — turning that data into insight, strategy and action. A respectful and clear working relationship between these two roles is essential.

What We’re Looking For

* ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience in a relevant manufacturing environment)
* 3–5 years’ experience in a management accounting role, ideally within manufacturing, construction, fit‑out or a project‑based business
* Strong understanding of job costing and project‑level P&L reporting
* Confident with cash flow forecasting and working capital management
* Commercially minded — someone who thinks like a business owner, not just an accountant
* Experience negotiating with suppliers or working alongside procurement
* Comfortable presenting financial information clearly to non‑finance directors
* Proficient in accounting software (Xero, Sage or similar) and highly competent in Excel

What Success Looks Like

Within six months, the directors will have weekly clarity on exactly how profitable every live project is. Within twelve months, cash flow will be proactively managed with no surprises. Beyond that, Porter Bathroom will have the financial infrastructure, margin discipline and clear reporting in place to grow with real purpose and confidence.

Porter Bathroom is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the quality and care we put into every product we make.
