About 4D Medicine 4D Medicine Ltd is revolutionizing the field of implantable medical devices with cutting-edge absorbable biomaterials. Our proprietary platform, 4Degra® is a resorbable photocurable resin derived from advanced polycarbonate urethane chemistry. 4Degra® was developed from 15 years of rigorous research at leading U.K. universities prior to 4D Medicine was setup in 2020 to commercialise its benefits. As our materials and devices continue down the path to regulatory approval we are looking to grow our team Key Responsibilities: · Planning and execution of chemical synthesis including, scheduling and running of batch production, quality control testing, packaging and storage of finished product. · Conducting validation activities on equipment and processes and work within an ISO13485 certified quality management system. · Safely use the laboratory and its equipment, diagnosing and reporting issues where appropriate. · Stock management of raw materials and reaction intermediates for ensuring capability to always meet demand. · Work within both the lab and clean room environments. · Maintain accurate records of all activities to be able to write clear technical and operational reports. · Produce material and documentation that will be used for regulatory approval. What you’ll bring: · Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or have experience of chemical synthesis obtained through another course. · At least 3 years’ experience in a synthetic polymer chemistry lab. · Experience of working in a certified Quality Management System (ISO9001, ISO13485, ISO14001) or working to GMP guidelines. · Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, particularly large, crosslinked networks with ability to link chemical structure to material properties. · Experience in using Gel Permeation Chromatography instrument with experience at method development and troubleshooting desired. Desirable: · Experience working with UV curable resins including methods for monitoring cure such as UV rheology. · Knowledge of the use of Karl Fischer apparatus to monitor reaction progress. · Understanding of resin 3D printing and subsequent post cure processes. · Knowledge of mechanical testing methods to determine material properties. From time to time, you might also be required to work in other locations across the UK and overseas as the business develops. Working conditions You will be working in a laboratory and cleanroom environments; you will be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment, and to lift heavy objects from time to time.
