Job overview

EEAST is looking for 2 Co‑chairs to support the BME Network.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Online link below. Applicants will then be issued a full EOI form to complete with manager’s signature.

This is a voluntary role which will be undertaken alongside your current role. Abstraction from your current role will be agreed in line with service requirements as per the abstraction policy. This role has been approved and continues to receive support from the Trust Executive Team.

Main duties of the job

The network chair will hold responsibility for coordinating the activities of the network and fulfil the following tasks:

* Chair the meetings
* Set dates for the meetings and organise a suitable space to be available.
* Set an agenda for each meeting and work with the MWN Secretary to send these out to participants in advance.
* Circulate minutes or notes from each meeting to all participants of the group.
* Be the link person to the Head of Culture and Inclusivity for East of England Ambulance Trust Service and keep all participants aware of significant changes in the Trust between meetings.
* Support the Trust in fulfilling relevant organisational objectives as outlined in Action Plans, Workforce Race Equality Standards and the Equality Delivery System.


Working for our organisation

EAST BME Network was established in November 2017 by the deputy director of people and culture. The group is a cross‑representative group of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic employees from across EEAST. The aim of the group is to work with the Trust to utilise the skills and resources of its Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic employees in order to add value to the organisation and make EEAST a great place to work.


The priorities of the BME network are

* Recruitment and retention of new and existing BME employees
* Collaborate with BME communities to work for EEAST
* Work to make EEAST an employer of choice for BME applicants
* Support positive action initiatives
* Network to support recruitment panels.
* Buddy / mentor support for new BME staff joining EEAST
* Mentoring and coaching of new and existing BME staff
* Promote career development opportunities
* Develop an inclusive culture
* Open days / presentations of BME Network
* To contribute to and support the delivery of the Workforce Race Equality Standard Action Plan
