JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Family Definition
Roles within the Commercial Services family focus on increasing income through creativity, branding, innovative business development, and funded projects to make Eden sustainable, successful, and a leading, value-for-money visitor attraction.
Role Purpose
As part of the retail and admissions team, you will welcome visitors at the ticketing department, process their entry, and bid them farewell in retail. You will handle purchases and assist with merchandising on the shop floor, delivering a consistent world-class experience for visitors.
Key Accountabilities
1. Ensure high levels of customer service across retail outlets, including webshop and admissions, maintaining a friendly, polite, and professional approach.
2. Ensure accurate till transactions, engaging with visitors, and maximizing Gift Aid income, especially when visitors arrive without a timed entry slot.
3. Take ownership of your working area, ensure it is well presented, assist with merchandising, and communicate stock issues to maximize sales.
4. Understand and assist with visitors' health, safety, and welfare, working with colleagues and managers to address concerns.
5. Stay informed about Eden’s activities and events to inspire visitors; learn about retail products and their provenance to promote informed choices and sales.
6. With training, may work in hospitality, events, stewarding, and parking teams as needed.
Demands of the Role
Experience in sales and relevant systems; GCSE or equivalent/NVQ Level 2 qualifications or higher; excellent numeracy and literacy skills. Customer-facing experience and EPOS system familiarity are desirable. Confident keyboard and ICT skills are essential. Training on Eden and retail products will be provided.
Decision-making
Most decisions are routine, based on established procedures; unusual situations are referred to a line manager. Contributions to service and experience improvements are encouraged.
People & Asset Management
Assist less experienced colleagues as needed. Responsible for equipment and retail stock accuracy, and transaction integrity.
Communication & Visitor Experience
Provide confident, professional communication, respond to questions, and promote products to maximize sales.
Operational Environment
The role involves standing for long periods, moving stock, and desk work. Weekend and evening shifts are regular.
