Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Refuelling Operative who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in London at North Pole Train Maintenance Centre.
Salary: £35,504
15% Shift allowance
£6,000 Location Allowance

Accountabilities
In this exciting role you will be responsible for servicing of train including fuel, toilet, screen wash, Diesel, ad Blu and fresh water and support the Maintenance staff as required with corrective and preventative maintenance, complex fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent position working on a rotating night shift basis.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
1. Undertake servicing/ replenishment of train arriving from service this will include but is not limited to:Replenishment of DieselReplenishment of Ad-BluToilet system servicingReplenishment of fresh water for the toilet and galley systemsReplenishment of the driver’s windscreen washReplenishment of sand hoppers fitted to the train.
2. Record all servicing undertaken and fluids or materials used in the required maintenance management system (MMS).
3. Carry out daily checks of service spine equipment and ensure area is tidy/clean.
4. Reporting of any defects found, notifying the Refuelling Team Leader and recording this in the maintenance management system (MMS).
5. Support the Maintenance staff as required with corrective and preventative maintenance, complex fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets.
6. Support the continued development of the maintenance management system (MMS). Ensure all servicing requirements are captured and delivered.
7. Ensure all fluid and material usage is controlled and recorded and any materials being returned to the stores for repair are correctly labelled and process is followed.
8. Comply with the lean principles and best practice as instructed at North Pole and other out stabled locations as necessary.
9. Support the maintenance staff and cleaners to ensuring the contractual agreed number of trains are made available for service.
10. Health & safety – Follow the correct working practices at all times. All relative PPE equipment is being used. Ensure roadways/pits are kept clean after work.
11. Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post.
12. Carry out first level of fault rectification on the service spine equipment.
13. Assist as general depot duties as required.
Required Skills
Licences / Competences
14. Local PTS
15. Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, Powered plant and tools – air / 110v experience.
16. Experience of supporting a maintenance team on a shift bases in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment.
17. Safety Awareness gained in operational railway environments.
18. Experience of working at stabling out stations or main line stations in an operational area
19. Strong understanding of safe systems of work.
20. Good communication skills, ability to carry out clear instructions.
21. Experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.

23. Knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
24. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
25. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
26. Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.

Education/Qualifications
28. A level of engineering background knowledge, preferable to NVQ level 2/3 in mechanical or electrical engineering, or appropriate industry experience

33. Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation
