Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join our small team as a Senior Technical Officer. We seek a dynamic individual with significant experience in Revenues or Benefits administration, familiar with systems such as Capita and Civica. Responsibilities include system support, legislation, policy, processes, software testing, income reconciliation, batch processing, user control, statutory returns, and management information extraction.

Key Responsibilities
* Ensure accurate assessment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims in line with policies and legislation.
* Support the subsidy function, including accuracy checks and liaising with external auditors.
* Act as a subject matter expert for complex issues, understanding relevant processes, regulations, legislation, and system functionalities.
* Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and technical support to Revenues and Benefits Officers, both face-to-face and virtually.
* Coordinate with the Valuation Tribunal Service and Valuation Office Agency, including representation at appeal hearings.
* Create legislatively compliant processes, documents, and digital content.
* Participate in technical forums, meetings with external stakeholders, and contribute to projects.
* Assist with system testing, reconciliation, control, and statutory returns.
* Deliver excellent customer service, promoting first contact resolution.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection rules.
* Manage escalation of complex service issues, informing senior management as needed.
* Support the Service Leadership team and a team of Council Tax and Housing Benefit professionals.
Candidate Profile
* Excellent communicators and collaborators, capable of interpreting complex legislation and solving problems.
* Proficient in using Academy software and ICT tools, especially MS Excel.
* Experienced in Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction environments.
* Detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines with high accuracy.
* Committed to continuous professional development.
* Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
