Offer description

Medical Education is a well-established team made up of Doctors, Clinical Educators and Administration Staff. A unique opportunity has arisen for a Simulation Technical Assistant to join at a very exciting time of expansion.

Are you enthusiastic about using your technical and communication skills to make a difference to patient care and safety? Do you have a creative and imaginative mindset? If so, we would like to hear from you. We deliver and design simulation-based education to give healthcare staff and medical students the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perfect clinical skills and team-working. You will be an integral member of the team that supports the technical and administrative service provision.

This post will suit individuals who can be versatile in working in different environments and those who are able to work within a team as well as independently. You should have the ability to create and maintain working relationships with all levels of healthcare professionals. You will be working with the Education Hub Manager on a daily basis where you will be expected to identify workload as well as being given tasks to complete.

Although you will be based mainly at the Cameron Hospital in Windygates, it offers the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals, students and other faculty across multiple sites, and you should be able and prepared to travel to different sites within NHS Fife when required.

You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as enjoy problem-solving and troubleshooting technical challenges. You should be competent in the use of Microsoft Office as part of the administration duties of the role and should be able to move and set up large pieces of equipment needed for education. Training will be offered in the use of simulated manikins, task trainers, AV equipment and other mechanical or electronic devices used within this role.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
