About the Role: An exciting opportunity exists in the Council’s Environmental Services for a Pesticides Operative working from our Depot at Monckton Road, Wakefield. Key Responsibilities: The post holder will be part of a team to deliver a high quality citizen focused service within a neighbourhood in Wakefield districts, which delivers safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods. You will be working within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation. To undertake street cleansing and weed activities by use of quad weed spraying and hand holed spraying equipment, in a flexible manner, providing a citizen focused service which delivers safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods. What will be expected from me ? The postholder will be required to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge and experience:- To be an ambassador for the Council when dealing with all stakeholders, customers and have excellent communication and inter-personel skills. To deal with conflict situations. To be self-motivated and can motivate others. To have a good understanding of Health & Safety procedures. The ability to assess problems and provide practical solutions. To have the ability to prioritise conflicting demands. To display good numeracy and literacy skills. To have the ability to multi-task and display a flexible working approach. Essential requirements: Driving License category B. Hold or obtain NVQ Level 2 or equivalent within 2 years of appointment C&G PA1, PA2A and PA6A Pesticide Application Certificate. A sound knowledge of operating plant, tools and equipment in a relevant environmental / amenity work. What can I expect ? A competitive salary.
