Title: Lead Development Engineer (Self-Employed Contractor)

EDAG Engineering UK is a small but growing collaborative team who are currently focusing on some key UK Customers whilst at the same time having access to large multidisciplinary teams globally. Within the group, we are over 9000 employees located across the world whose core business is to provide engineering solutions to major automotive companies and their suppliers.
We are looking for a Lead Development Engineer (Self-Employed Contractor) to join the team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to our continuing expansion.
Responsibilities include:
* Take on functional responsibility for sound development in series production vehicle projects and support the customer's functional lead
* Independently coordinate project tasks with developers, suppliers, and customers throughout the development cycle
* Manage and oversee audio functionalities, including functional concepts, signal management, schematic reviews, and system overviews
* Plan, conduct, and evaluate measurement campaigns and software function tests both on test benches and in vehicles; prepare corresponding reports
* Independently organize and evaluate sound tuning sessions, including detailed tuning planning and reporting
* Document faults, proactively track corrective measures, and regularly report on progress
* Organise and lead tuning and approval appointments with customers and suppliers
* Participate in technology discussions, especially around system architecture and network integration
* Independently plan and execute the full tuning and approval process (sound calibration and validation)
* Coordinate and carry out test drives and validation sessions at proving grounds or with sound approval committees
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field
* Relevant experience in automotive audio development or system integration
* Familiarity with automotive development processes and validation methods
* Experience in supplier coordination and functional tuning
* Strong understanding of DSP concepts and audio tuning strategies
* Competency in handling CAD models and reviewing E/E documentation
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Proactive, structured, and capable of managing multiple stakeholders
