This primary school is seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 child with Autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey by providing tailored support in line with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
1. Provide individualised support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism, ensuring their needs are met in line with their EHCP
2. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and strategies
3. Maintain a daily journal to log the child’s progress, achievements, and areas for development
4. Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing and structured environment
5. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere
What you'll need to succeed
6. Experience working with children with Autism or other additional needs
7. A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour andmunication
8. Strong collaboration skills to liaise effectively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
9. Amitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
10. Relevant qualifications ( Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable.
