Summary of the Role
We’re looking for an organised and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role plays a key part in supporting the smooth running of our finance operations. You’ll work closely with senior finance personnel (FD, FC, FM, FBP) on ad hoc projects and provide cover for other team members in purchase and sales ledger functions when needed.
This is a varied and hands-on role that offers exposure to multiple areas of finance, making it ideal for someone looking to grow their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Cashflow Management: Daily cash reconciliation, updating cashflow reports, submitting weekly forecasts to group, and liaising with SL & PL teams
* Month-End Procedures: Preparation and posting of journals including accruals, prepayments, and project transfers
* Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Monthly reconciliations and quarterly cut-off testing
* Corporate Governance: Producing monthly cost reports, analysing spend vs. budget/forecast, and meeting with stakeholders to discuss variances
* Utilisation Reporting: Weekly report generation and trend analysis with the Finance Business Partner
* Fixed Assets: Maintaining the fixed asset register, managing additions/disposals, and producing bi-weekly capex reports for committee meetings
* Audit Support: Assisting with year-end and half-year audits, responding to queries, and preparing statutory accounts for review
* Sales & Purchase Ledger Support: Assisting with ledger tasks as needed
* Ad Hoc Support: Contributing to team efforts during busy periods and supporting additional finance tasks
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in accounting within a projects or professional services environment, including time and expense tracking
* Ideally part-qualified and actively working toward a professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA)
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
* Proven reconciliation experience and attention to detail
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* A proactive, self-checking approach to outputs and reporting
