The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets, working collaboratively across the KPMG network.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, real estate funds, and institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, with UK, European, and global strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: We work with mid-market UK corporates and PE funds to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including due diligence, structuring, refinancing, and listings, handling deals from £10m to over £10bn. We focus on understanding tax issues, structuring transactions, and maximizing value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries and taxes.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice
* Support in business development, proposals, and pitches
* Develop and maintain client relationships
* Act as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and learn continuously
* Prepare and oversee detailed UK and international tax advice
* Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, challenging their input when necessary
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive
* Ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships
* Leadership and coaching skills
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
