The Vacancy
We are hiring Children's Social Workers for our Private and/or Public Law teams. Working in these teams, Children's Social Workers (or as we will professionally call you - Family Court Advisers) are involved in cases where families require assistance to agree on the best arrangements for the welfare and safety of the child(ren), or where the local authority has serious concerns and requests Cafcass involvement.
Children's Social Workers' key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting assessments and directly engaging with children to understand and represent their views and wishes to the court.
2. Utilizing expertise in robust risk assessment and mediation to advocate for arrangements that prioritize the best interests of the children.
3. Relevant Social Work qualification is essential.
4. Registered with Social Work England (Cafcass reimburses the costs of this annual registration).
5. Demonstrable, relevant experience of working with children and families in a social work setting.
6. Experience in Family Court proceedings and understanding of Private and/or Public Law is advantageous.
7. Organized and resilient, with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Location
While these roles are based in our Birmingham office, they cover Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, and Smethwick. Our teams work flexibly and remotely; proximity to the office is not always critical. We provide resources, equipment, and support to enable you to be the voice of children and young people in family court decisions.

Salary
The advertised salary reflects our 2024/25 pay award. We are awaiting confirmation of the 2025/26 salaries.
