About The Role

HAYS is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a respected and long-established accountancy practice based in Dunfermline. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional looking to contribute to a dynamic team dedicated to delivering high‑quality financial support to a diverse client portfolio. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day bookkeeping activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial transactions. You will work closely with clients and colleagues to provide timely and accurate financial information, supporting the firm’s commitment to exceptional client service. This position is ideal for someone with practical bookkeeping experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and values professional development.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess relevant bookkeeping experience, preferably gained within an accountancy practice or similar professional environment. A strong working knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively. Good communication skills are vital, as the role involves interacting with clients and team members. A proactive approach, problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity are also key qualities. Relevant qualifications such as AAT or equivalent accounting certifications will be advantageous but are not mandatory.


Responsibilities

* Processing and recording bookkeeping entries accurately for a diverse range of clients.
* Reconciling bank and supplier accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy.
* Managing purchase and sales ledgers, including invoicing and payment processing.
* Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
* Assisting clients with the use of cloud accounting software, providing training and ongoing support.
* Collaborating with colleagues to produce accurate financial reports and summaries.
* Maintaining organized records and ensuring all documentation is up‑to‑date and compliant.
* Supporting the wider team with ad‑hoc accounting tasks as required.
