Electrical Engineer
Location: PNDC, Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC), near Glasgow Airport
Reports to: Senior Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing team at the Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC). This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your professional electrical engineering expertise in the delivery of safe, effective, and innovative testing programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to the design, planning, and execution of projects across our cutting-edge facilities. You will:
* Ensure safe and cost-effective delivery of testing programmes.
* Support the investigation and resolution of electrical issues, with occasional involvement in mechanical works.
* Lead and assist with maintenance activities on electrical infrastructure, plant, communications, and instrumentation systems.
* Implement and maintain safety and operational procedures.
* Conduct site surveys and inspections.
* Prepare bills of materials and cost estimates.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A minimum of an HNC/HND in electrical or electronic engineering, or equivalent qualifications/experience.
* A sound understanding of LV systems and an appreciation of HV systems, including protection and communications.
* Knowledge of electrical services, planned maintenance practices, and current health and safety legislation.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* The ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Additional Information
You will be based at our new ANZIC facility, with the potential to support activities at PNDC’s original site in Cumbernauld. You will receive full training and will be supported in obtaining LV authorisation early in your role, with the opportunity to progress towards HV authorisation.
