Staff Nurse - Endoscopy

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated team player committed to delivering high standards of patient‑centred care with excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude, and a commitment to personal development. The successful applicant will ideally have relevant experience in an acute setting. Previous endoscopy experience is advantageous but not essential as training and competency assessment will be provided.
The post holder will play an important role in a large, dynamic team that includes Clinical Endoscopists, Gastroenterology Consultants, Colorectal/Upper Surgical Consultants, senior doctors, and a large nursing and HCSW team. You will need to be flexible to work a range of shifts (0730 to 1830, including Saturdays) and participate in a 24‑hour on‑call service when competent.
Base location: UHD – Royal Bournemouth Hospital (cross‑site working across Poole, Wimborne, and Bournemouth)
Main duties
* Deliver high quality care to patients across the entire endoscopy pathway including pre‑, peri‑ and post‑endoscopic procedural care.
* Administer oral and IV drugs, comply with nursing, infection control and risk‑management policies.
* Lead and support the running of endoscopy treatment rooms for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
* Maintain and apply basic life support, CVC cannulation, consent training and other clinical skills.
* Document and communicate patient information accurately and timely.
Qualifications
* NMC Registration.
* Mentor preparation course or equivalent.
* Band 5 leadership course.
Experience
* Previous experience in an acute hospital environment.
* Experience of running endoscopy treatment rooms for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
* Basic Life Support.
* Willingness to undertake oral and IV drug administration training.
* Experience complying with nursing, infection control and risk‑management policies.
* CVC cannulation.
* Consent training.
Knowledge
* Aware of accountability and confidentiality duties.
* Fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Previous gastroenterology experience.
Interpersonal skills
* Prioritise and work on own initiative.
* Accountable for own professional actions.
