Business Development Director
Salary: Competitive basic salary, plus bonus, car allowance and additional benefits. Location: London / South East, with national travel for client meetings.
We are seeking an exceptional Business Development Director to join a high‑growth, ambitious Facilities Management business. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a proven “player–coach”, someone who not only delivers significant personal sales results but can lead, inspire, and develop a growing Business Development team to consistently exceed targets.
This role is ideal for a commercially astute sales leader with a strong established network across Facilities Services, Healthcare, Housing and Estate Management, Managing Agents, Student Accommodation and related sectors.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring someone who thrives in both strategic boardroom environments and front‑line sales delivery.
In this role you will:
* Build, lead, and develop a Business Development team while delivering a personal sales target.
* Conduct client meetings and site visits at senior decision‑maker level.
* Assist in developing commercial models while owning their maintenance and population to meet targeted contract profitability metrics.
* Prepare and deliver high‑impact external presentations to clients and prospects.
* Present at Board level on performance, pipeline, forecasts and market trends.
* Oversee sales performance management, forecasting and pipeline governance.
* Network extensively, building strong effective relationships with clients and service partners.
Candidate requirements:
* Equally comfortable initiating and closing your own deals and coaching others to do the same.
* A strong track record of delivering consistent significant sales growth.
* Demonstrable experience building, leading and developing high‑performing sales teams.
* A background in winning profitable contracts within Facilities Management, Support Services, Waste Management, Security, Contract Cleaning, Property Services, Grounds Maintenance or related services.
* A network of established and current sector relationships.
* Expertise across the full tender lifecycle.
* Strong commercial acumen and contract costing capability.
* Intellect, and gravitas to present at C‑suite and Board level.
* High levels of literacy, numeracy and attention to detail.
* The ability to influence, negotiate and close deals at the highest level.
* A professional collaborative, values‑driven leadership style.
