Full Time - Monday – Friday alternative 9-5 or 10-6, with occasional weekend and evenings.
We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer‑focused Receptionist to join our Indigo Operations team, based in the heart of Peterborough city centre.
You will be the first point of contact for residents, visitors and customers, providing a professional, welcoming service while supporting the wider team with a range of administrative and housing‑related tasks. This is a varied role that suits someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
What you’ll be doing
1. Acting as the first point of contact at reception, over the phone and face‑to‑face
2. Supporting customers with queries relating to repairs, accounts, bills, estate issues and benefits
3. Providing administrative support to the Service Manager and Assistant Manager
4. Assisting with property allocations and lettings to minimise void periods
5. Liaising with utility companies during void periods and recording meter readings
6. Supporting tenancy administration, including renewals
7. Raising purchase orders, processing invoices and managing stock
8. Carrying out general office duties such as data entry, spreadsheets, filing, scanning, minute‑taking and meeting organisation
9. Supporting resident welfare checks and wider housing management administration
10. Handling sensitive and confidential information in line with data protection requirements
What we’re looking for
Essential:
11. Experience in an administrative or reception role
12. Excellent customer service skills, both face‑to‑face and over the phone
13. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and similar systems
14. Good numeracy skills with the ability to handle basic rent and account calculations
15. Ability to communicate clearly, patiently and tactfully
16. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands
17. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Desirable:
18. Experience working in housing or a customer‑facing public service environment
19. Knowledge of rent accounting or welfare benefits
20. Experience using financial or housing management systems
