Join us, be part of more.
We’re more than just an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers, one team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, while living our commitment to positive change in communities. Here, you’ll find purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently — we make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.
We’ve powered the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years. But supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, aiming for Net Zero. Using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers, we’re making it easier for customers to reduce their carbon footprint.
About your role:
Your mission is to help us mend it by repairing kitchen appliances. Age, gender, background? All irrelevant! We value your drive, passion, and fire. We welcome everyone, regardless of where you come from, what you look like, or how you power your home.
Kitchens are central to our customers’ homes, and appliances are essential. When they break, you’ll be there to help them get back to cooking and cleaning—like a superhero! At our training centre, you’ll learn the skills and earn qualifications to become a top-tier Kitchen Appliance Engineer. Under experienced engineers’ guidance, you'll soon be working in homes around your area, helping customers get their appliances working again.
This role is hands-on and focused, but it’s rewarding—helping families every day to keep their ovens baking and fridges chilling. We offer a training wage starting at £25,970, rising to £37,104, plus a London weighting allowance of up to £6k for those in or starting in London.
What we’re looking for:
* A qualification in engineering, mechanical, or electrical subjects (desirable) and/or technical experience
* A passion for learning a trade, building a career, and providing excellent customer service
* A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less
* Availability for 5 weeks of training in Wakefield, with accommodation and travel provided if needed
We’re recruiting trainees in:
Glasgow South & Renfrewshire, Lancashire North West, Leeds & Harrogate, Lancashire South, Stockport, Cardiff & Vale, Wiltshire, Reading, Bedford & Cambridge, Camden & Kingsbury, Ealing & Watford, Bromley & Dartford.
