Step into a Key Role at a Celebrated North London Firm
This is more than just a job - it's your chance to join a respected, long-standing accountancy practice in North London, celebrating its 50th anniversary next year. With a period of transition underway following the retirement of long-serving staff, the firm is actively seeking an experienced Audit and Accounts Senior who can hit the ground running and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the team.
Why Join?
* Immediate Impact: You'll take over audits previously handled by a now-retired team member, with the full support of the two Directors.
* New Clients Incoming: The firm is taking on 50-100 clients from a retiring sole practitioner, giving you a fresh portfolio to manage - and a clear pathway to becoming a portfolio manager and stepping into a managerial role within a couple of years.
* Be Valued: With only two other audit-capable team members currently in place, your skills will be recognised and relied upon.
What You'll Do
* Lead Audits: Handle the full audit process (planning, fieldwork, and completion) for a growing portfolio of 15-20 companies, including charities and trading companies.
* Prepare Accounts & Tax: Split your time 50/50 between audit and accounts/tax work. This includes statutory accounts, CT600s, and personal tax returns.
* Be the Expert: With no junior team members to assist (for now), you'll be fully hands-on. Your experience and technical knowledge will be essential.
* Communicate with Clients: Act as a key point of contact for clients, particularly those requiring audits.
About You
* Qualified: ACA / ACCA / QBE with significant experience in audit and accounts, especially in leading audits under FRS 102.
* Experienced: You've managed audits independently from start to finish - and enjoy it.
* Reliable: You're self-sufficient, technically strong, and know how to deliver clean, compliant audit files.
* People-Smart: Excellent communication and client-facing skills are essential.
* Locally Based: The role is fully office-based in Stanmore, so a manageable commute is key.
The Practice
* Team of 15: Led by two active Directors
* Audit Portfolio: Sectors include Charities, Construction, Software, Cable Comms, Global Mobility, Office Refurbishment
* Turnovers: Up to £40M
* Audit Software: HAT Audit Programme - both paper and electronic files

* Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
* Future Growth: Step into a portfolio management role within a couple of years

* Convenience: Parking available (residential street / serviced office spaces) and near the Jubilee Line
Interview Process
* First Stage: Zoom interview
* Second Stage: In-person interview at the Stanmore office
