Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cath Lab Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. Working as an expert clinical practitioner within the expanding Cardiology and Neurointervention department. The post holder will work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure Stroke Thrombectomy and Primary PCI services deliver evidence-based care, and will work with Clinical Educators to train and develop staff. The post holder will also support the Clinical Service Manager, offering clinical leadership and assisting with some managerial tasks. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.
Main duties
The post holder will be based in the Cath Lab and will have a requirement for on-call as part of the role. They will be an experienced scrub practitioner with experience of Cardiology and Neurointervention procedures, working across sub-specialties including Cardiac Intervention, Structural Heart Valve, Devices, EP and Neurointervention. The post holder will be actively involved in training and development of staff, service development and improvement, clinical research, and clinical audit benchmarking against national guidelines to ensure evidence-based practice. In addition they will support the Clinical Service Manager, offering clinical leadership and assisting with delegated managerial tasks.

Job Description and Responsibilities
* Act in accordance with the NMC Code and be accountable for own practice and professional actions at all times.
* Contribute to the development of the roles of nurses, midwives, nursing associates in the best interests of patients and these professions in accordance with the NMC Code.
* Demonstrate clinical practice expertise through personal practice, lead by example and include face-to-face teaching, delivering education sessions and developing training plans.
* Provide clinical leadership as a knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, and ensuring clinical governance is embedded in practice.
* Support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
* Identify and assess complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implement resolutions and monitor/audit outcomes.
* Demonstrate technical and practical skills to ensure optimum patient management, including complex patient monitoring, equipment management and administration of invasive tests/procedures.
* Lead education and development of staff and service through appraisal and business planning cycles.
* Manage and respond to clinical events with appropriate effort according to patient needs; provide support to patients and carers during difficult situations, including imparting difficult news where appropriate.
* Utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data.
* Act as a clinical and professional role model for effective clinical leadership and participate in the on-call rota.
* Undertake informed consent for nurse-led procedures, and perform nurse-led procedures as per clinical competence and training.
