We are working in partnership with a well-established charity that provides specialist support services to individuals affected by domestic and sexual abuse across the West Midlands. This organisation delivers holistic, trauma-informed support to help victims escape violence, cope with trauma, and rebuild their lives. One of its dedicated services offers tailored support for male victims of interpersonal abuse, including domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, and honour-based abuse. The service works closely with multi-agency partners to reduce risk and empower victims.
Your new role
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) within this specialist service, you will provide direct support to high-risk male victims of domestic abuse. Your responsibilities will include:
Receiving referrals and making proactive contact with victims to reduce risk and explain the MARAC process.
Conducting risk assessments (e.g., DASH), developing safety plans, and advocating for victims in multi-agency settings.
Providing practical and emotional support through one-to-one sessions and, where needed, group work.
Preparing reports for MARAC and other safeguarding forums, and attending meetings to represent victims.
Liaising with external agencies to ensure victims access appropriate services and support.
Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to service development.This is a challenging yet rewarding role requiring empathy, resilience, and strong communication skills. Training will be provided.
What you'll need to succeed
IDVA qualification and/or experience working in domestic/sexual violence or related fields.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and trauma-informed approaches.
Ability to manage complex caseloads and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
Competence in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Eligibility to work in the UK.(This position is open to male and female applicants.)
