Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed assistant psychologist to perform at a band 4, and join our well established service in adult mental health for people who live in South West Kent and Maidstone (West).
The post holder will be based for 2.5 days at Albion Place in Maidstone and 2.5 days at Highlands House in Tunbridge Wells within the Psychological Therapies service which includes psychological clinicians of several disciplines.
We work closely with our colleagues in both tertiary and Community Mental Health Together and MHT Plus team. You would participate in weekly meetings, which included peer group supervision and group supervision from an external supervisor, in addition to individual management and clinical supervision. There will be a requirement to travel between our Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells trust sites in a timely manner.
As a team, we offer a comprehensive service to adults with complex and longstanding mental health conditions and emotional difficulties. We offer individual therapy including EMDR and various group interventions including MBT, Art therapy, DBT and also have a Systemic Family Therapy team.
Main duties of the job
To participate in the provision of direct clinical work through the delivery of manualised psychologically informed structured interventions as part of Psychological Services to adults with mental health difficulties within the community & recovery service line of Kent & Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. In particular:
* To deliver 'initial interventions' to people accessing adult mental health services as part of the Clinical Care Pathways in the CMHT. Specific and targeted training will be provided by experienced Psychological Practitioners and all interventions supported by weekly clinical supervision from Psychological Practitioners.
* To undertake other structured therapeutic psychological interventions in an identified service or services using own independent initiative within guidelines provided by a qualified psychologist.
* To undertake clinical and service performance related administration, audit and research projects, teaching and service improvement project work under the professional guidance of a qualified psychologist. This includes overseeing the clinical outcomes project for psychological therapies across the North Kent directorate
* To undertake training in the delivery of the CBT informed intervention known as 'Initial Interventions' delivered by a group of specialist psychological practitioners
* To provide psychological guidance and support to carers and families of service users under clinical supervision of a psychological therapist.
Person specification
Training, Qualifications
* An upper second class honours degree or higher in Psychology
* Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Experience and Knowledge
* Basic competence in statistical analysis
* An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other difficulties
Desirable criteria
* Experience of delivering psychologically informed interventions
* Experience of working in mental health services
* Experience of working in a team
