We are seeking a Finance Director to take full ownership of our finance function and play a key role in shaping the financial future. This is a strategic leadership role for a highly capable and commercially astute finance professional with deep technical expertise and strong reporting experience under IFRS. Role Purpose Reporting directly to the Managing Director and functionally to the Group CFO, the Finance Director will lead all aspects of financial control, compliance, reporting, and performance management. You will be the primary finance liaison with our parent company, ensuring timely and accurate financial data, full compliance with IFRS, and the implementation of best-practice governance, systems, and controls. This role is based at our offices near Norwich and requires an on-site presence to lead and mentor the finance team and work closely with operations and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership Act as a trusted business partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team, supporting commercial and strategic decision-making. Lead the development of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning aligned to business and group priorities. Financial Reporting & Group Compliance Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packs in accordance with IFRS and Group guidelines. Ensure full transparency of financial results and performance against budget, with appropriate commentary and insight. Manage statutory accounts and liaise with auditors to ensure timely year-end completion. Controls, Processes & Systems Lead the development of strong internal financial controls and policies that meet both UK regulations and Group standards. Identify and drive improvements in financial systems, reporting, and processes to enhance visibility, accuracy, and automation. Governance, Risk & Compliance Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, audit, and statutory obligations in the UK. Maintain oversight of risk registers and financial controls, with continuous monitoring and improvement. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and ongoing professional growth. Foster collaboration across departments to increase financial awareness and discipline throughout the business. Required Skills & Experience Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualified experience in a senior finance role. Proven experience as a Finance Director or Financial Controller within a £10m£50m turnover business (renewables, engineering, or construction sectors ideal). Deep understanding of IFRS and experience producing statutory accounts in line with international standards. Demonstrable experience managing complex group reporting requirements and acting as a group-facing financial liaison. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience developing finance teams. High level of integrity, professional scepticism, and a track record of improving transparency and controls. Strong systems skills (preferably with ERP or accounting software transformation experience). Desirable Qualifications & Attributes Experience in a private equity-backed or group-owned business. Exposure to project accounting, WIP management, or energy infrastructure finance. Hands-on and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to operate strategically and tactically.
