Cover Teacher – Primary

We are seeking a reliable and confident Cover Teacher to support a welcoming primary school in Leyton. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can quickly build rapport with pupils, and is confident managing a classroom independently.
Job Overview
The main duty of a Cover Teacher is to supervise and teach classes when the regular class teacher is absent, ensuring students remain on task and that learning objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver lessons using plans provided by the class teacher.
* Maintain a positive, focused, and productive classroom environment.
* Ensure students follow instructions, complete set work, and behave appropriately.
* Adapt to different year groups and subjects as needed.
* Liaise with school staff to support pupil learning and share feedback.
Essential Skills & Requirements
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to lead a class independently.
* Flexibility and adaptability to step into different classrooms at short notice.
* Excellent communication skills for working with pupils and school staff.
* Previous school-based experience is highly desirable.
* A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
Safeguarding

* Two recent references (covering the past 24 months)
* Overseas Police Check (if applicable – for candidates who have lived outside the UK for 3+ months in the past 5 years)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
